Electrolysis versus laser, the difference worth knowing
This is the first question I am asked, and I answer it honestly: I do not perform laser hair removal. I work with electrolysis, and there is a professional reason for that, not just a preference.
Laser works by detecting the dark pigment in the hair. That means it is effective on dark hair on light skin, and less effective, sometimes not effective at all, on blonde, red, grey or white hair, which does not contain enough pigment for the laser to detect. On darker skin tones it also requires much more caution.
Electrolysis does not rely on the colour of the hair. It works on each follicle individually, so it can be used on blonde, red, grey or white hair and on a range of skin tones. The treatment is still adapted to the characteristics of the hair and the skin.
The price of that precision is time: each hair is treated individually, so electrolysis suits targeted areas and not hair removal from the whole leg. It is a treatment of precision, not of area.
